At first glance the statement above can sound, well, like anything. The truth is that when someone approaches me to do custom work, they often have a wonderful image in their mind. A beautiful landscape, an animal, a house, or a portrait. What they are asking me to do is to see in their mind, snap a mental image, and recreate it. This is never as easy as it sounds, and I always fear taking that perfect image and translating it into disappointment. I prefer instead to create things of beauty from the world around me, from the images and seascapes I experience, and translate those into art that hopefully sings to people as they come across my page or my booths. It is not that anyone's idea of beauty is not good enough for me, it is that I do not believe I am always good enough to make it into what they deserve.
